The finale draws near as I’m moments away from the fruits of my labour. A Bachelor of Design (Visual Communication), within my grasps.
Years of restless nights, the occasional art block and an unexpected pandemic has led me to this very moment. With my degree in hand, my journey has only just begun and I make my way into the professional design industry.
My travels begin in the Greater Western Region of Sydney, Australia, armed with my degree, an insatiable hunger for knowledge and a pair of Doc Martens on my online wishlist. I embark into the professional design industry to discover the potential job opportunities out there. What fascinating things could I learn? What kind of places would I see and oh, the people I’ll meet along the way.
As I take my time to take in the moment, I reminisce about the journey a younger version of me went through to lead up to this moment. My creative drive extends beyond the classroom and I’ve shown plenty of interest in art and design throughout my life, known as that one kid who drew all over their tests in school while also seizing every opportunity outside of the classroom to hone those skills and abilities on a professional level.
My quest?
To find an opportunity to work with a design studio who’ll give me a chance and nurture my artistic passions. One day, I might just see my designs on display while I’m out and about and when I do, I know I’m on the right track.
